Wickedness Within -> The Paradox of Human Morality

Humans are a curious breed, so deeply entangled in their own complexities that they rarely recognize wickedness when it dwells within them. We often wear the mask of righteousness, convinced that our actions are just, kind, or necessary. Yet, beneath this veneer lies a profound paradox: when we commit acts that are inherently wicked, we convince ourselves that we are doing good.

This is the nature of wickedness, it's not always blatant or monstrous; it often masquerades as virtue. Take, for example, the concept of a "white lie." We tell these harmless falsehoods to avoid hurting someone's feelings or to navigate social situations smoothly. But in doing so, we erode the foundation of trust and honesty, and still, we believe we are kind, not cruel. Or consider gossip, the seemingly innocent sharing of stories about others, often tinted with exaggeration or judgment. We justify it as harmless chatter or bonding, yet it fractures relationships and fuels mistrust.

Even acts that are widely accepted in society can be wicked in their subtlety. Sex before marriage, it is embraced as an expression of love or freedom. Humans cloak their desires and impulses in self-righteousness, ignoring the possible consequences or harm caused to themselves and others.

Pride and ambition, too, highlight this twisted duality. Striving for success is often celebrated as noble, yet it breed arrogance and selfishness, pushing people to trample over others to get ahead.

The list of human "wickedness" is endless, and therein lies the cruel truth: not a single one of us is good. We are all capable of wickedness precisely because we fail to recognize it in ourselves. Our moral compass is often skewed by personal bias, cultural norms, and self-interest.

Wickedness is not just a set of actions but a condition, a blindness to our own flaws and a failure to confront the shadows within. The first step toward true goodness is to acknowledge this darkness, to look at ourselves with brutal honesty, and to understand that goodness requires more than just good intentions. It demands awareness, humility, and a relentless commitment to seeing beyond the self-deception that so often defines us.

This is why, without Elohim (God), without the divine guidance and transforming power of Elohim, true goodness is impossible for us. Human effort alone cannot overcome the blindness and deception of the heart. It is only through surrender to Elohim, His wisdom, mercy, and holiness, that we can begin to see ourselves clearly, confront our wickedness, and walk the path of genuine righteousness.
